LocalCall is an upcoming Android application designed to facilitate seamless voice communication over local Wi-Fi networks—entirely independent of internet access or mobile data plans. Operating similarly to a digital walkie-talkie, LocalCall records audio snippets and instantly transmits them across the local network, creating a highly reliable intra-network communication tool.
To deliver its core walkie-talkie functionality, LocalCall requires specific device permissions. We are committed to transparency and stringent data privacy standards. By using LocalCall, you agree to the following terms regarding permissions:
Usage: LocalCall requires access to your device's microphone solely to record the audio messages you intend to send over the local network.
Data Handling: Audio is recorded dynamically and transmitted immediately to the target device on the same local Wi-Fi network. No audio recordings are permanently stored on your device, nor are they transmitted to any external servers or third parties. The app does not record audio in the background without explicit user action (e.g., holding a push-to-talk button).
Usage: The app utilizes notifications to alert you of incoming audio messages and to maintain a persistent foreground service indicator when the app is actively listening on the network.
Data Handling: Notifications are generated locally on the device to ensure you don't miss incoming transmissions. We do not use push notification services that route through external servers.
Usage: LocalCall requires access to network state information to discover and connect with other devices on the same local network.
Data Handling: Network discovery is restricted strictly to the local subnet. We do not track, log, or export your IP address or network configuration data.
